What is 'Mission Supernova, Part 1'? --------------------------------------- 'Mission Supernova, Part 1' (abbreviated to 'MSN 1') is a mouse-oriented science-fiction VGA graphic-adventure. You are Walter Bumble, ship's cook of the starship 'Supernova'. One day you wake up and find out that all the other crew members have left the ship! To save your life you have to solve some nice puzzles, speak to aliens -- and be aware of every step you make. Are you smart enough to make it to the end of 'MSN 1'? An online manual is available by pressing 'F1' during the game. 3. If there's a 'Part 1' -- where is 'Part 2'? ---------------------------------------------- If you want to, 'MSN 1' will bring you some hours of joy and fun solving the puzzles and discovering strange places. If you have done your job well, you might want to play 'MSN 2' to continue your trip through space. Also, if you got stuck in 'MSN 1', the on-disk help system that comes together with 'MSN 2' could be of some importance for you. But 'MSN 2' is no shareware and available from the publisher Peter Weber only (address at top of this file). Fill the registration form REGISTER.TXT, and send it together with the money to the given address. In a few weeks you'll be able to continue your fantastic space voyage. 4. System Requirements ---------------------- Hardware: PC 286 (or higher), about 540 KB of free RAM, a hard disk with 2 MB of free space (during installation about 4 MB!), a VGA graphic card, and a mouse. SoundBlaster and compatible sound cards are supported. Software: MS-DOS 3.3 (or higher). Pure DOS game -- not compatible to Windows! Never tested on OS/2 systems. Try it and report to me, please. 5. Detailed Registration Information ------------------------------------ 'MSN 1' is shareware. It should be copied and given to anyone who could be interested in it. If you are a professional, please read the VENDOR.TXT file for matters concerning distribution. Let your friends be happy with this game -- even if you don't like it very much (always a matter of taste). Perhaps they will! If you think this game is worth a registration, don't hesitate to send the filled registration form (REGISTER.TXT) and some money to Peter Weber. The form can be printed by pushing 'F3' during the game. You'll get 'MSN 2' and an on-disk help system for both parts via airmail. 'MSN 2' offers even better graphics and a lot of new puzzles -- some are quite tricky. Due to the complexity of the game, it's available on a 3.5" 1.44 MB disk only. The registration fee is - 30 DM (inside Europe) or - 25 US$ (for those who are far away) I can accept Eurocheques inside Europe, but I prefer cash. Please don't send me any stamps, I'm no philatelist and never thought about becoming one. Also, I am sorry not to be able to accept any credit cards, but that's life. The fees include shipping & handling via airmail. I promise to do my very best to bring 'MSN 2' to you as quick as possible. Really. 6. A Complete File List ----------------------- I decided to put this piece of information into the VENDOR.TXT file. Look there if you think that something is missing. Here a brief summary: If uninstalled, there are four (4) files: An archive (more than 1 MB), an executable (INSTALL.EXE), and two (2) text files. Yes, you guessed it, you are just reading one of them. If installed, you should find 67 files in your directory, taking 1,992,495 bytes, to be exact. 7. Some Backies & Good Bye -------------------------- Steffen and Thomas Dingel (yes, they are brothers) originally designed this game for the German market only. It was quite successful, and I (Peter Weber) asked them why they didn't translate it for the English-speaking players. They said "OK, do it!", and that's what I did. They also asked me to distribute this international version, because they both have no time. 'Mission Supernova' is now, as well as we know, bug-free and it's running very stable on various machines. Therefore, Steffen and Thomas prefer to concentrate on new projects. They already finished a new adventure, but it's available in German language only. I can tell you: Stunning graphics, a complex story and *very* difficult puzzles! It would be a perfect support for anyone who learns German ... but if 'Mission Supernova' becomes successful outside of Germany, the new adventure will surely be translated as well. But that's future. For now, enjoy this fine game, solve its puzzles, and think a bit of those who had a lot of work to create what you are playing. Bye. ======================================================================= End of README.TXT
